S[JBECT: SALE OF SURPLUS 'RADIO EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That the established Purchasing Procedures regarding
the disposal of Surplus Equipment be waived for this
particular transaction;
2 . That the surplus Fire Department Radio Equipment be
sold to the City of Brockville for a total amount
of $1,484 . 00 plus Provincial Sales Tax; and
3 . That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute
any necessary agreement in this regard.
4. That the funds received from the sale be credited to
the Fire Department Account #6400-00009-X.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The Fire Department has declared the following dispatch equipment
surplus to their needs:
Quantity Description
2 Motorola Base Radios Model 1600
3 Motorola Encoders Model 36
2 Dictaphone Call Check Units Model 5713
In accordance with the established Purchasing Procedures,
equipment which has been declared surplus, is to be sold via
Public Tender or by Auction.

SALE OF SURPLUS RADIO EQUIPMENT
Due to the limited use of this equipment, as well as the
historically low prices received at the Auction for radio
equipment, other Municipalities with similar equipment were
contacted.
The Municipalities contacted were:
City of Brockville
City of Belleville
Town of Port Hope
Town of Cobourg
The only response received from this request was from the City of
Brockville, with a total bid in the amount of $1,484 . 00 .
After further review of this offer by both the Fire Chief and the
Purchasing and Supply Agent, it was mutually agreed that the
offer be recommended for acceptance. Subsequently, it is also
recommended that the established procedures for the disposal of
Surplus Equipment be waived for this particular transaction.
