W&JECT: TENDER T89-42, FIRE FIGHTER BUNKER SUITS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-106-89 be received;
2 . That Class "A" Fire Systems, Madoc, Ontario, with a
total bid price of $ 13,128.48, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender T89-42, be awarded the
contract to supply fifteen ( 15) Fire Fighter Bunker
Suits as required by the Town of Newcastle Fire
Department; and
3. That the required funds be drawn from the Fire
Department approved Capital Budget, Account
#7102-00001-0520.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of fifteen ( 15) Fire Fighter Bunker Suits, as required
by the Fire Department.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

Note: Provincial Sales Tax is included in all of the above
prices .
The required funds are to be drawn from the approved Fire
Department Capital Budget, Account #7102-00001-0520, from which
there are adequate funds available.
This is reflected in the Fire Department Capital Budget, page 90,
item #5, as equipment for fifteen ( 15) new firefighters . The
budgeted cost on this equipment is $ 31,725 . 00; a portion of
which is covered by Tender T89-42 . The additional equipment
will be added through subsequent purchase orders, in accordance
with the budgeted amount.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Fire
Chief.

Although the subject firm have not previously supplied bunker
suits to the Town of Newcastle, they have satisfactorily supplied
the City of Peterborough.
After further review and analysis of the bids by both Purchasing
and the Fire Department, it was agreed that Class "A" Fire
Systems, Madoc, Ontario, be recommended for the contract award
of Tender T89-42, to supply the Town of Newcastle Fire Department
with fifteen ( 15) Fire Fighter Bunker Suits .
