BOWMANVILLE MUSEUM
REQUEST FOR CAPITAL REIMBURSEMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That report TR-99-89 be received; and
2. That the Bowmanville Museum Board be reimbursed for the cost of
reshingling the Museum roof; and
3. That the funds expended totalling $ 3,995.00 be drawn from the
Bowmanville Museum Capital Reserve Fund.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
Correspondence dated November 15, 1989 was received from Ms. Ellen Logan,
Secretary/Treasurer for the Bowmanville Museum Board requesting reimbursement
for the costs associated with reshingling the Bowmanville Museum roof. The
Museum Board deemed that the repair work was nesessary as there were "heavy
leaks in the bathroom and back stairs."

The Bowmanville Museum Board pre-approved this extraordinary repair prior to
receiving Council's endorsement. At the time approval was given the
Bowmanville Museum Board was unaware that Council needed to review and approve
all Capital requests. In order to prevent similar requests in the future Ms.
Logan has noted that the Museum Board has been informed of this existing
procedure.
Due to the nature and circumstances involved of this unanticipated expenditure
staff recommends approval of the request.
