REPORT #: TR-78-89 FILE #: SUB,JECT: TENDER T89-25, ONE (1) ONLY 34,000 G.V.W. PUMPER CAB AND CHASSIS 1500 GALLON TANK RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. That Report TR-78-89, be received; 2. That Almonte Fire Trucks Limited, Carleton Place, Ontario with a total bid in the amount of $83 505.00 being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender T89-30 be awarded the contract to supply one (1) only 34,000 G.V.W. Pumper Cab and Chassis/1500 Gallon Tank, as required by the Town of Newcastle Fire Department; and 3. That the funds expended be provided from the approved 1989 Fire Department Capital Budget Account #7102-00001-0504. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of one (1) only 34,000 G.V.W. Pumper Cab and Chassis/1500 Gallon Tank, as required by the Fire Department. 742 Page -2- TR-78-89 TENDER T89-25, ONE (1) ONLY 34,000 G.V.W. PUMPER CAB AND CHASSIS 1500 GALLON TANK Subsequently, tenders were received and -tabulated as follows: BIDDER TOTAL BID AMOUNT Almonte Fire Trucks Limited $ 83,505.00 Carleton Place, Ontario Dependable Emergency Vehicles $ 90,549.00 Brampton, Ontario Hub Fire Engines and Equipment Ltd., $108,963.00 Abbotsford, British Columbia The required funds are reflected in the 1989 Fire Department Capital budget, page 90, item 2, in the amount of $90,000.00. Queries with respect to the Department needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Acting Fire Chief. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concerns with the recommendation. After further review and analysis of the tenders by the Fire Department and Purchasing it was mutually agreed that Almonte Fire Trucks Limited, Carleton Place, Ontario, be recommended for the contract to supply and deliver one (1) only 34,000 G.V.W. Pumper Cab and Chassis/1500 Gallon Tank, as required by the Fire Department. Although Almonte Fire Trucks Limited, Carleton Place, Ontario, have not previously supplied vehicles to the Town of Newcastle, they did satisfactorily complete the retrofit of Pumper 3.
