SUBJECT: TENDER T89-16, ONE (1) ONLY 50,000 G.V.W.R. CAB AND CHASSIS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-55-89, be received;
2. That Winslow-Gerolamy Motors Ltd., Peterborough, Ontario,
with a total bid in the amount of $ 64,356.12, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications
of Tender T89-16, be awarded the contract to supply and deliver
one (1) only 50,000 G.V.W.R. Cab and Chassis, to the Town of
Newcastle Department of Public Works; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1989 approved Public Works
Fleet, Account #2900-00010-0000.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of
one (1) only 50,000 G.V.W.R. Cab and Chassis, as required by the Department of
Public Works.

Tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The total required funds of $ 64,356.12 will be drawn from the 1989 approved
Public Works Fleet, Account #2900-00010-0000, from which there are adequate
funds available. This is reflected in the Public Works Capital Budget, Page 53,
Item #5, as a 1976 Ford Dump Truck to be replaced. The budgeted cost on this
equipment is $110,000.00; a portion of which is covered by Tender T89-16. The
additional equipment will be added through subsequent tenders, in accordance
with the budgeted amount. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements
and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. should be referred to the Director of Public Works.
After review and analysis of the bids by both Purchasing and Public Works, it
was mutually agreed that the low bid from Winslow-Gerolamy Motors Ltd. ,
Peterborough, Ontario, be recommended for the tender award. The subject firm
have previously provided vehicles to the satisfaction of the Town of Newcastle.
