This bill is payable at Newcastle Town Hall, or at most chartered bank branches and trust companies within the Region of Durham and the Town of Port Hope, in two instalments due on June 23, 1989 and September 22, 1989. To avoid penalty charges, please pay your property taxes promptly. If this property has been sold please forward this bill to the new owner, or return it to this office. YOUR 1989 TAX DOLLARS $.21 of your Property Tax Dollar is spent by the Town of Newcastle; $.19 by the Region of Durham and $.60 by the Boards of Education. Provincial Legislation directs that the Town collect taxes approved by the Boards of Education and the Region of Durham. The 1989 average assessed value in the Town of Newcastle is approximately $3,350. Therefore the average 1989 taxes, based on the mill rate will be $1,878 for public school purposes as opposed to $1,558 in 1988.
