SUB,JECT: TENDER T89-7, ONE (1) ONLY 3/4 TON CREW CAB PICK UP TRUCK
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Cowan Pontiac Buick Ltd., Bowmanville, Ontario, with a total
bid of $18,323.28, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all
terms, conditions and specifications of Tender T89-7, be awarded the
contract, to supply and deliver one (1) only one (1) Ton Crew Cab
Pick Up Truck, to the Town of Newcastle as required by the Department
of Community Services; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1989 approved Community Services
Capital Budget, Account #7602-00000-0505.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of
one (1) only 3/4 Ton Crew Cab Pick Up Truck, as required by the Department of
Community Services.

The low bidder has advised that a 3/4 Ton Crew Cab Pick Up Truck is no longer
available and are therefore, proposing a one (1) ton. A notation on the
pricing schedule of Tender T89-7, advises all bidders that they may tender on
the specification outlined and/or an alternate specification.
The total bid price of $18,323.28 is well within the $20,00101.00 provided for
in the 1989 Community Services Capital Budget, Account #76012-0101010101-05015. The
Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc.
should be referred to the Director of Community Services.
After review and analysis of the bids by both Purchasing and Community Services,
it was mutually agreed that the low bid from Cowan Pontiac Buick Ltd.,
Bowmanville, Ontario, be recommended for the tender award.
