HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-92-88 TOWN OF NEWCASTLE REPORT File # 1 . 7 ; � �es. # - d By-Law # MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE DATE: December 12, 1988 REPORT #: TR-92-88 FILE #: SLB,JECT: QUOTATION Q88-8, ELDRIDGE PROPERTY, LOT 33, CONCESSION 3, TOOLEY'S ROAD, DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. That RAP-MAC Services Inc., Brooklin, Ontario, be awarded the contract forthwith for the demolition of an accessory building as well as the removal of several wrecked vehicles; and 2. That any and all costs associated with the work be assessed against the ,subject property and collected in a like manner as taxes. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: At the Council Meeting of November 7, 1988, Council Resolution #C-8201-88 directed staff to obtain three (3) quotes for the clean up of Lot 33, Concession 3, former Township of Darlington. Page - 2 TR-92-88 QUOTATION Q88-8, ELDRIDGE PROPERTY, LOT 33, CONCESSION 3, TOOLEY'S ROAD, DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP Subsequently, a request for Quotations was advertised in all four (4) area papers. Quotations were received and tabulated as follows: Bidder Total Bid Amount RAP-MAC Services Inc. $ 3,500.00 Brooklin, Ontario Jack M. Ferguson $ 6,500.00 3owmanville, Ontario G. McQuaid Contracting $ 6,900.00 Oshawa, Ontario Hoskin Auto Service $11,250.00 Hampton, Ontario Browning-Ferris Industries $25,000.00 Oshawa, Ontario Staff have contacted RAP-MAC Services Inc. to review the contract requirements and to ensure that there was no misunderstanding with respect to the terms and conditions. In addition, the firm is highly recommended by Ontario Hydro. The s= of $ 3,500.00 is available in account #2900-00011-0000, Garbage Equipment Reserve. The amount would eventually be recouped pursuant to the provisions of Section 325 of the Municipal Act. The Deputy Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc. should be referred to the Director of Planning and Development. Due to the present danger as represented by the accessory building in question, it is respectfully recommended that the contract be awarded forthwith. Page - 3 - TR-92-88 QUOTATION Q88-8, ELDRIDGE PROPERTY, LOT 33, CONCESSION 3, TOOLEY'S ROAD, DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP After further review and analysis of the quotes by the Purchasing Agent, the By-Law Enforcement Officer and the Director of Planning and Development, it was mutually agreed that RAP-MAC Services Inc. be awarded the contract Quotation Q88-8 for the demolition of the accessory building and the removal of the wrecked vehicles and debris.
