&JB,ECT: TENDER T88-28, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF STREET LUMINAIRES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Whites Mobile Wash, Newcastle, Ontario, with a total bid of
$32,185.42, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender T88-28, be awarded the
contract to supply and install Street Luminaires, as required by
the Town of Newcastle; and
3. That $13,970.54 be drawn from the Road Reserve Account
#50101-00033-0851 and that $18,214.88 be drawn from the Street
Lighting Capital Account #7230-00210-0000.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised in the four (4) local papers and invited for
the supply and installation of Street Luminaires at various locations as
required by the Department of Public Works.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

As stated in the General Conditions of the tender, "The locations and
quantities specified on this contract are subject to approval by Council. The
Town of Newcastle may add or subtract to the contract in the amount of not
exceeding twenty-five percent (250) to adjust to the actual work performed
based on the unit tendered prices".
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc.
should be referred to the Director of Public Works. For further information
regarding the requirements, please refer to Report WD70-88.
After review of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works, it was mutally agreed
that the bid from Whites Mobile Wash, Newcastle, Ontario, be recommended for
the tender award for the supply and installation of Street Luminaires as
required by the Department of Public Works. The subject firm have recently
performed satisfactorily for the Town of Newcastle.
