SMECT: TENDER T88-22, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF SNOW PLOW HARNESS,
PLOWS AND WINGS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That London Machinery, London, Ontario, with a total bid of $27,198.72
being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender T88-22, be awarded the contract to supply Snow
Plow Equipment to two (2) only cab and chassis as provided by the Town
of Newcastle; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the Public Works Capital Equipment Reserve.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A Tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and installation of
Snow Plow Equipment, Plows and Wings, as required by the Department of Public Works.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

TENDER T88-22, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF SNOW PLOW HARNESS, PLOWS AND WINGS
As part of the General Conditions of this tender, the Town of Newcastle reserved
the right to include installation with the award of this tender or to make
alternate installation arrangements. It is estimated that the cost for Town of
Newcastle staff to install this equipment is $2,100.00.
This equipment will be installed on two (2) only new 50,000 G.V.W. cab and chassis,
which are currently on order. Delivery of the cab and chassis is scheduled for
October 14, 1988.
The required funds will be drawn from the Public Works Capital Equipment Reserve,
from which there are adequate funds available. The Treasurer has reviewed the
funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to
department needs, specifications, etc. should be referred to the Director of
Public Works.
After review of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works, it was mutually agreed
that the bid from London Machinery, London, Ontario, be recommended for the tender
award, and that the equipment be installed by Town of Newcastle staff. London
Machinery is a reputable company and have performed satisfactorily for the Town of
Newcastle in past years.
