MEETING: GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE

SUBJECT: TENDER T88-17, TWO (2) CONTRACTORS DUMP BODIES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Viking-Sives, Mount Forest, Ontario, with. a total bid of
$17,115.84, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender T88-17, be awarded the
contract to supply and deliver two (2) only Contractors Dump Bodies
to the Town of Newcastle as required by the Department of Public
Works; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the approved 1988 Public Works Fleet
Account.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of two
(2) only Contractors Dump Bodies, as required by the Department of Public Works.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds will be drawn from the approved 1988 Public Works Fleet
Account from which there are adequate funds available.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc.
should be referred to the Director of Public Works.
After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works, it was
mutually agreed that the low bid from Viking-Sives, Mount Forest, Ontario, be
recommended for the tender award. Viking-Sives have previously performed

satisfactorily for the Town of Newcastle.
