SU&JECT: TENDER T88-8, HOT MIX ASPHALT - WALKWAY, COURTICE WEST PARK
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Tri-Son Contracting, Prince Albert, Ontario, with a total
bid in the amount of $15,510.00, being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender
T88-8, be awarded the contract to supply all necessary labour,
materials and equipment to install approximately 1,650 feet of
walkway at the Courtice West Park, Courtice, Ontario, as required
by the Town of Newcastle; and
3. That the funds expended be provided from the Community Impact
Agreement Station "B" Account, as approved by the Hydro Liason
Conmi ttee.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply of all necessary
labour, materials and equipment to install approximately 1,650 feet of walkway
at the Courtice West Park, Courtice, Ontario, as required by the Department
of Community Services.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds will be provided from the Coranunity Impact Agreement Station
"B" Account as approved by the Hydro Liason Committee.
The low bid of $15,510.00 is within the budget allocation of $15,675.00.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc.
should be referred to the Director of Corftnunity Services.
Although the low bidder has not performed directly for the Town of Newcastle
in the past, the owner, Mr. John Brough, worked for Bennett Paving and
Materials Limited for approximately thirty (30) years and comes highly
recommended.
After review and analyis of the bids by both Purchasing and Community Services
it was mutually agreed that the bid from Tri-Son Contracting, Prince Albert,
Ontario, be recommended for the tender award, as required by the Department
of Community Services.
