SU&JECT: TENDER T87-37, ONE (1) WHEELED TRACTOR (INDUSTRIAL CLASS 4 DIESEL)
ONE (1) FRONT END LOADER (FOR ABOVE)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Markham Ford, Markham, Ontario, with a total bid price of
$31,500.00 (plus Provincial Sales Tax) , being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terns, conditions and specifications of Tender
T87-37, be awarded the contract to supply and deliver one (1) only
Wheeled Tractor (Industrial Class 4 Diesel) , (Part "A") , and
one (1) only Front End Loader (for same) , (Part "B") , as required by
the Department of Public Works; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the 1987 approved Public Works Capital
Equipment budget.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and delivery of one
(1) only Wheeled Tractor (Industrial Class 4 Diesel) and one (1) only Front End
Loader (for same) .
Tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A" attached.

A review of the tenders revealed that the low bidder, Trotter Equipment Limited,
Peterborough, Ontario, did not meet the specifications as required by the
Department of Public Works. The deficiencies are indicated on Schedule "A°' in
the column entitled "Remarks".
After further review and analyis of the bids by both Public Works and Purchasing
it was mutually agreed that Markham Ford, Markham, Ontario, be recommended for
the contract to supply and deliver one (1) only Wheeled Tractor (Industrial
Class 4 Diesel) , (Part A) and one (1) only Front End Loader (for same) , (Part
B) , as required.
The funds will be drawn from the 1987 approved Public Works Capital Equipment
budget from which there are adequate funds available.
The subject firm has performed satisfactorily for the Town of Newcastle in past
years.
