Committee meeting of December 7, 1981.
REPORT NO. : FD-4-81
SUBJECT: Snow Blade for Fire Department 44, 1980
Ford
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General
Purpose Committee recommend to Council the
following:
1. That approval be given to purchase and install
Meyers ST90E47 Snow Plow on 1980, 44 complete
for $1,700 plus P.S.T.
2. That $1,800-be tranferred from account #7102-003-001
-2-3-4 to #7102=209-001-2-3-4 to accommodate this
purchase.
3. That the quote from Kerr Industries be accepted.
BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:
At present Station #2, Newcastle is plowed by H. Couch.
This will average $200 per year for very moderate
snow fall .
Station #4, Courtice is plowed by McFarland Sand and
Gravel with average $400 per year for very moderate
snow fall .
Station #3 is not plowed.

Station #1, Bowmanville has a partially heated
ramp, remainder is shovelled by hand.
The parking lot to the immediate east of the
station should be kept plowed at all times which is
not occurring. The part-time members park in this
area when responding to an alarm. Any accumulation
of ice or snow creates a very hazardous condition.
If the plow was purchased all 4 stations would be
plowed, with a heavy accumulation of snow, costs
for plow would be recovered within a very short period
of time.
