SUBJECT: Volunteer Firefighter - Fire Station #1,
Bowmanville

RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the resignation from Captain Robert
Smith, as of October 1, 1982, be accepted
with regret.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Due to health reasons, Bob is unable to continue as a volunteer
firefighter.
Bob origionally joined the fire department as a volunteer firefighter on
October 1, 1962. He has rendered many years of excellent service, has
always shown a keen interest in fire department operations and activities,
his father Frank before him served with the department for over 25 years,
brothers Bruce and Brian are at present members of the department.
Bob was appointed captain in 1973 and was well thought of and respected
by his fellow officers and firefighters. It is again with regret that
I recommend the acceptance of his resignation.
