COMMITTEE - MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7, 1983.
REPORT NO. FD 18-83.
SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Week.

COMMENTS:
It is my pleasure to report on the activities of a very successful Fire Pre-
vention Week.
As of the end of September all schools (29) in the Municipality have had a fire
drill conducted by the Fire Department. Evacuation times and areas of concern
were noted during the fire drill , with written reports sent to school principals
and school board offices.
Demonstrations and displays of vehicles and equipment were held daily at Fire
Station #1 with presentations inside on home fire safety.
A total of 14 school groups visited with the Department totalling 295 children.
A great interest was shown with public response estimated around 500 visitors.
The Hurst Rescue Tool (Jaws of Life) and aerial ladder demonstrations proved to
be real crowd pleasers.
