TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION
COMMITTEE MEETING — DECEMBER 3, 1984.
REPORT NO. FD 32-84.
SUBJECT: Fire Department Training Courses.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended;
i
THAT this report be received for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
I am pleased to report that Platoon Chief, Gregg Corden, attended and success-
fully completed a one week training course at the Ontario Police College, on
Arson Investigation. This course is sponsored and funded by the Ontario Fire
Marshal 's Office with no cost to the Municipality. Information gained from
attending this course will prove to be very beneficial to this Department and
Municipality relating to fire investigation.
One full time firefighter, Graydon Brown, and three part-time firefighters,
George Moore, Jeff Langley and Donald McLaren, have attended, and successfully
completed, a weekend firefighters training course at the Ontario Fire College
in Gravenhurst. Enrolment is very limited in courses of this nature and I feel
that this Department was extremely fortunate to have some representation from
this Municipality.
I will endeavour, in the future, to apply for as many courses as are available,
to permit members of the Department to increase their knowledge of firefighting
and fire safety.
