COMMITTEE MEETING - NOVEMBER 5, 1984.
REPORT NO. FD 28-84.
SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Week.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
THAT this report be received for informa-
tion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
It is my pleasure to report on the activities of a very successful Fire
Prevention Week.
As of October 6, 1984 all schools (28) , in the Municipality have had a
fire drill conducted by the Fire Department. Evacuation times and areas
of concern regarding the fire drill were noted, with written reports
sent to school principals and school board offices.
Demonstrations and displays of vehicles and equipment were held daily at
Fire Station #1 with presentations inside on home fire safety. A total
of 14 school groups visited with the Department totalling 250 children.
i
A great interest was shown with total public response estimated around
500 visitors.
I
The Hurst Rescue Tool , (Jaws of Life) and the practical fire extinguisher
demonstrations proved to be real crowd pleasers.
