REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION
COMMITTEE - MEETING SEPTEMBER 17, 1984.
REPORT N0. 22-84.
SUBJECT: Proclamation and Display for Fire
Prevention Week - October 8th - 13th.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
(1 ) THAT this report be received;
(2) THAT the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council that October
8th to 13th, 1984 be proclaimed Fire Preven-
tion Week in the Town of Newcastle, and
(3) THAT the Fire Department be granted the use
of half of the parking lot to the east of
the Police and Fire.Building, for displays
of Fire Department vehicles, equipment and
demonstrations, from October 9th to 13th,
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
Fire Prevention Week is upon us once again, starting the week of October 8,
1984.
This year we are proposing to hold an open house at Fire Station 91 with as
many members of the Department participating as are available. I would re-
quest the use of half of the parking lot to the east of the Police and Fire
Building for displays of Fire Department vehicles, equipment and demonstra-
tions. Inside, Fire Safety slides and movies will be shown as well as a � g�p
free draw for a smoke alarm and a fire extinguisher. �lap

Because of the tremendous response last year, again this year we will be
inviting elementary school students and their parents to visit the Open
House at Fire Station #1 .
