SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Week.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
It is my pleasure to report on the activities of Fire Prevention Week.
As of October 4th all schools in the Municipality have had a fire drill
conducted by the Fire Department. Evacuation times and areas of concern
regarding the., fire drill were noted with written reports sent to school
Principals and school board offices.
Demonstrations and displays of equipment and vehicles were held daily
with a total of 200 children visiting the Fire Stations. Weekend attend-
ance by the public proved to be disappointing possibly due to the timing
of Fire Prevention Week and the Thanksgiving Holiday.
I would like to thank Council for the use of the parking lot during Fire
Prevention Week and also the members of the Town of Newcastle Fire

Department who donated their time to promoting this week of Fire Safety
and Fire Prevention.
