FD 6-85 SUBJECT: Tender T84-24 - Triple Combination j 1050 G.P.M. Fire Pumper. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended: 1 . ) THAT this report be received; and 2. ) THAT Council withdraw the tender award to Pierreville Fire Trucks Limited, St. Francois- Dulac, Quebec, for the supply and delivery of a 1985, 1050 Combination Fire Pumper; and 3. ) THAT Council award the tender in the amount of $140,000.00 to Superior Emergency Equip- ment Limited, Red Deer, Alberta, for the supply and delivery of a 1985 1050 Combination Fire Pumber. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Council approval was given on February 25, 1985 to G.P.A. Resolution 125-85 awarding the contract to supply and deliver one 1985 Triple Combination Fire Department Pumper, to Pierreville Fire Trucks Limited. At the time that Pierreville Limited was quoting on our Tender T84-24, they were negotiating with their creditors to refinance the Company. During this period of time the Ontario agent for Pierreville Limited, Stone Fire Equip- ment, assured me that by the time we were ready to place our order the Pierre- . ville company would have their refinancing completed. This has not occurred. On February 28, 1985 the Mercantile Bank, one of Pierreville's major creditors, foreclosed and forced the Company into receivership, seizing all assets. FIRE PREVE-NT ON€sx WNS WTH YOU Report No. FD 1-85 - 2 - of March 2, 1985 Pierreville Fire Trucks Limited was officially in receiver- ship and the company assets were listed in the Toronto Globe and Mail,in lots,/ to be sold. On reviewing the other tenders submitted, I would recommend that Superior Emergency Fire Trucks Limited of Red Deer, Alberta, with a total bid of $140,000.00, being the same amount bid as Pierreville Fire Trucks Limited and meeting all terms and conditions , be awarded the contract. Earlier concerns with this Company, in regard to providing service or war- ranty work on the vehicle, were raised. In conversation with Mr. B. Mather, Managing Director of Superior Emergency Equipment, assurance has been re- ceived as to the financial position of the Company and arrangements will be made for warranty and service work with a Toronto based company. It is recommended by Treasury, Purchasing and the Fire Department that Superior Emergency Equipment Limited be awarded the contract. Respectfully submitted, J Aldridge, Fire Chief. K. CpbelI , Treasurer. JA/sr March 6, 1985. i
