REPORT #: FD 33 - 86. FILE #: 10. 12.6 SUBJECT: Home Fire Inspection Program RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that -th3-s-report be received for information. i BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS N S The Home Fire Inspection Program was conducted throughout the municipality from Sep- tember 16th through to the 25th. The inclement weather disrupted scheduling for the inspection crews, but many positive comments were received from residents. An overall total of 688 homes were inspected and approximately 220 new homes were visited and emergency phone number stickers were distributed to these new residents. i During inspections, fire prevention literature was given out, smoke alarms were tested and discussed with property owners and a brief fire inspection of the building took place with the inspector pointing out areas of concern. Costs associated with the program this year for part-time firefighters' wages amounted to approximately $2, 100.00. 1 The Home Fire Inspection Program appears to have been well received again this year, generating good public interest. Many calls have been received from residents who were not home at the time of the inspection and have requested the Fire Prevention Officer arrange to inspect their residences. Respectfully submitted, I X 4 --7- 4C J.J Aldrid e, Fire Chief. OrtnF. 1A 1 n0a
