SUBJECT: Fire Training Course - September 22nd to 26th - Ontario Hydro
Western Nuclear Training Centre.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
l. ) THAT this Report be received; and
2. ) THAT the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to
Council , forthwith, that the Fire Chief attend the Ontario Hydro
Western Nuclear Training Centre Course from September 22nd to 26th ,
1986, as an invited participant of Ontario Hydro' s Darlington
Community Relations Department.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
Identified in the Fire Study was the responsibility of the Town of Newcastle's Fire
Department to ensure that our Firefighters are adequately trained for the hazards at the
Darlington Generating Station.
I have been invited by Mr. R. Dillabough, Training Technician, Darlington Station, to
attend the above-noted, week long course, to participate and review what courses and
practical training will be available to our Department. This will then permit planned
training courses for our Firefighters to enable the Department to provide an improved
level of Municipal fire protection for the Darlington Generating Station.
There will be no cost to the Municipality for me to attend this course, as expenses will
be covered by the Ontario Hydro's Darlington Community Relation Department.

I would note for Committee that this course takes place before the next Council meeting
of September 22, 1986, and would request approval to attend be given at this Committee
meeting, to permit arrangements to be made.
In my absence, Firefighter Graydon Brown will be in charge of Fire Department operations
and any inquiries may be directed through the Fire Department secretary, Mrs. Roman.
