SUBJECT: Proclamation and Display for Fire Prevention Week -
October 4th to 10th.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . ) THAT Fire Department Report 20-87 be received; and
2. ) THAT the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend
to Council that October 4th to 10th, 1987 be proclaimed Fire
Prevention Week in the Town of Newcastle.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
=ire Prevention Week is approaching, being the week of October 4th through the 10th. Fire
Department activities planned for this year include an Open House at each Fire Station,
commencing Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
and Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The public will be encouraged to visit their local Fire Station to meet firefighters, view
equipment and vehicles and discuss any fire safety matters that they may have.
Fire Station #1 will also be open Monday to Friday for visitors, from 10:00 a.m. until
3:00 p.m. daily, with displays and fire safety literature. A free draw will also be held
at each station.
