SMECT: FIRE DEPARTMENT POSTER CONTEST
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended:
1 . ) THAT Fire Department Report FD 10-87 be received;
2. ) THAT the winning contestants in the above-headed contest, Miss
Angie Prybich and Master Aaron Staples, be invited to attend
the evening Council Meeting of May 25, 1987;
3. ) THAT the presentation be made to the winnerson behalf of the !
Town; and
4. ) THAT the presentation be made to Miss Angie Prybich on behalf
of the Durham Region Fire Chiefs' Assocation.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
Once again it is my pleasure to report on the Fire Department' s Annual Poster Contest.
The posters submitted by the Municipality' s Grade 5 students were very well done making
a difficult task for the judges. Judging of the posters, by the District Chief from
each Station, took place at Fire Station #1 on April 13, 1987. The following contestants
were chosen as the winners for the Town of Newcastle:
Miss Angie Prybich, Master Aaron Staples,
1 Raymond Court, R. R. #2,
Newcastle, Ontario Orono, Ontario
Newcastle Public School Orono Public School
These winning posters were submitted to the Durham Region Fire Chiefs' Association

poster contest, as the Town of Newcastle's entries. Again we had a winner at the
Regional level and this year would like to congratulate Miss Angie Prybich of New-
castle for winning the girl 's category.
I sincerely thank all students who participated, all of the teachers who helped to
promote this contest and Fire Safety, and congratulate the winners.
