REPORT #: FD 17-89 FILE #: SUB.JECT: NORTHERN FIRE STATION RECOMMENDATIONS: 1.) THAT Fire Department Report 17-89 be received; 2.) THAT approval be given to the report and conceptual drawings prepared by Phillips Barratt Kaiser Engineering Ltd. (copy attached) pertaining to the northern fire station; and 3.) THAT any costs incurred in excess of the amount budgetted for this project in 1989, be allocated in the 1990 budget. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS On September 21, 1989 a meeting was held with Mr. Ben Sproule of Phillips Barratt Kaiser Engineering Ltd. to present the schedule for the design and construction of the northern fire station, as attached. Mr. Sproule has been advised that the time frame in this report would cause an unacceptable delay in construction. During discussions, Mr. Sproule advised that should approval be given to this initial report and permission be given to start detailed drawings, the pro- posed time frame could be improved to allow for tendering to take place and construction to begin by the first of December. This timing would allow for a tentative completion date in the early part of 1990 and would be in accordance with the delivery of the vehicles required to equip the station. Continued. . . . FD17-89 - 2 - It is therefore respectfully recommended that approval be given to Mr. Sproule's report and that the costs in excess of the $300,000 budgetted for this project in 1989, be allocated in the 1990 budget.
