SUBJECT: PROCLAMATION AND DISPLAY FOR FIRE PREVENTION WEEK -
OCTOBER 8 - 14th
RECOMMENDATIONS:

It is respectfully recommended:
1. THAT Fire Department Report 16-89 be received; and
2. THAT the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend
to Council that October 8 - 14, 1989 be proclaimed Fire Preven-
tion Week in the Town of Newcastle.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS
Fire Prevention Week is approaching, this year being the week of October 8 -
14th. The theme is entitled Big Fires Start Small and it is intended to
inform the public about the importance of keeping matches and lighters in the
right hands.
This year, the Town of Newcastle's Fire Prevention Week program will consist of
a display and information booth, to be located at the Bowmanville Mall and
manned by firefighters on Thursday and Friday, October 12th & 13th, from
5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 14, 1989, from 11:00 a.m.
until 3:00 p.m. A free draw can be entered by anyone who visits the informa-
tion booth and fills out a ballot.

Open House will be held at Station ##1, Bowmanville and Station ##4, Courtice,
daily from Tuesday, October 10th until Friday, October 13th, inclusive,
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
