SUB.ECT: TENDER NW92-14, 'SUPPLY, RETREADING AND REPAIR OF TIRES AND
TUBES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-34-92 be received;
2 . THAT Attersley Tire Service Ltd. , Oshawa, Ontario,
being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender NW92-14, be
awarded the contract, in an approximate value of
$22, 129 .90, for the Supply, Retreading and Repair of
Tires and Tubes to the Town of Newcastle, as required
by the Department of Public Works; and
3. THAT the funds be drawn from the various Public Works
approved 1992 Fleet Accounts.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were advertised and issued with bids being submitted as
follows:

TENDER NW92-14, SUPPLY, RETREADING AND REPAIR OF TIRES AND TUBES
As the requirements included in the tender lists individual tire
sizes and unit prices based on an estimated quantity, the total
bid amount is approximate only. Under the general terms and
conditions of the tender, the Town of Newcastle is not bound to
purchase the quantities specified.
The unit prices tendered represent an approximate seven percent
(7%) decrease over those tendered for the 1991 contract.
The funds required will be drawn from the various Public Works j
approved 1992 Fleet Accounts .
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director
of Public Works .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Public Works staff, it was mutually agreed that Attersley Tire
Service Ltd. , Oshawa, Ontario, be recommended for the contract
for the Supply, Retreading and Repair of Tires and Tubes to the
Town of Newcastle, as required by the Department of Public Works .
