SUBJECT: TENDER NW92-17, ONE ( 1) ONLY COMPACT WINDOW VAN
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TA-36-92 be received;
2 . THAT Roy Nichols Motors Ltd. , Courtice, Ontario, with a
total bid of $15,942 .65 (including all taxes) , being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender NW92-17, be
awarded the contract, to supply and deliver one ( 1)
only Compact Window Van, to the Town of Newcastle as
required by the Department of Planning and Development;
and
3 . THAT the required funds be drawn from the approved 1992
Planning and Development Capital Budget, account
#7105-00000-0504 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one ( 1) only Compact Window Van as required by the
Department of Planning and Development.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

Roy Nichols Motors Ltd. have offered a trade-in price of $2,500 . 00 on
the existing 1986 GMC Van. It is staff's opinion that the trade-in
offered is equivalent to any amount that would be received at the fall
Regional Auction Sale.
The total bid price of $15,942 .65 is well within the $22,000 . 00
provided for in the 1992 Planning and Development Capital Budget,
account #7105-00000-0504, as reflected in the Capital Budget.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with
the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of Planning ,
and Development.
After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing, Public Works and
Planning and Development, it was mutually agreed that the low bid from
Roy Nichols Motors Ltd. , Courtice, Ontario, be recommended for the
tender award.
