AUGER AND SNOW BUCKET
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-43-92 be received;
2 . THAT B.E. Larkin Equipment Limited, Peterborough,
Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of $59,570 . 00,
being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender NW92-23, be
awarded the contract to supply one ( 1) only
Backhoe/Loader c/w post hole auger and snow bucket, as
required by the Town of Newcastle Department of Public
Works; and
3 . THAT the funds expended be provided from the approved
1992 Capital Budget, from the Public Works Equipment
Reserve Account #2900-00010-0000.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one ( 1) only Backhoe/Loader c/w Post Hole Auger and
Snow Bucket, as required by the Department of Public Works .

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

A review of the low bid has revealed that the total bid price did
not include the drivehead and installation of the post hole
auger. An additional price of $1,800. 00 plus applicable taxes
has been provided. This additional cost results in the total bid
from Case Power and Equipment actually being $61,533 . 05 .
The second low bidder, B.E. Larkin Equipment Limited have
confirmed that the drivehead and installation of the post hole
auger are included in the total bid price of $59,570. 00 .
After further review and analysis of the tender by Public Works
and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that B.E. Larkin Equipment
Limited, Peterborough, Ontario, be recommended for the contract
to supply and deliver one ( 1) only Backhoe/Loader c/w Post Hole
Auger and Snow Bucket, to the Town of Newcastle, as required by
the Department of Public Works.
The required funds will be provided from the approved 1992
Capital Budget, from the Public Works Equipment Reserve Account
#2900-00010-0000 and are within the $60,000. 00 allocated.

The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director
of Public Works .
The subject firm have previously performed satisfactorily for the
Town of Newcastle.
