THAT Report TR-88-92 be received; 2 . THAT Future Steel Buildings, Markham, Ontario, with a total bid of $16, 180 .88 ($13,894.29 total bid + $2,286 .59 optional cement floor) , being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender NW92-33, be awarded the contract to supply, deliver, and install a Steel Building, as required by the Department of Community Services; and 3 . THAT the funds required be drawn from the approved 1992 Community Services Capital Budget, account #7402-00000-0501. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply, delivery and installation of a Steel Building at the Bowmanville Cemetery, as required by the Department of Community Services . Page - 2 - TR-88-92 Tender NW92-33, Steel Building Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows Bidder. Total Bid Amount Future Steel Buildings $ 13,894 .29 Markham, Ontario $ 11,833.49 Alternate Bid - not as per tender specifications NuWood Construction $ 16,037 .09 * ** Ajax, Ontario Kirby Structures $ 19,688. 00 ** Oshawa, Ontario * amended G.S.T. ** approved drawings not included with bid submission Note, the alternate bid submitted by the low bidder was not as per the tender specifications in that a smaller building was proposed. As part of the bid submission, the low bidder provided optional pricing for a cement floor, in the amount of $2,286 .59 . Acceptance of this option brings the total required funds to $16,180. 88 which will be drawn from the approved 1992 Community Services Capital Budget, account #7402-00000-0501 and are within the $25,000.00 allocated, as shown on page #182 of the 1992 Capital Budget. Note, the other bidders did not provide optional pricing for a cement floor. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Community Services. After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Community Services, it was mutually agreed that the bid, including the optional cement floor, from Future Steel Buildings, Markham, Ontario, be recommended for the tender award. Although the subject firm have not previously provided service for the Town of Newcastle, they have recently provided excellent service and a quality product to Premier Refractories, Welland, Ontario and Camco, Hamilton, Ontario.
