RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-96-92 be received;
2 . THAT Atelier's Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd. , Mississauga,
Ontario, with a total bid of $18,404 .00 being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender NW92-37, be awarded the contract
for re-roofing of the Brownsdale Community Centre, for the
Town of Newcastle as required by the Department of Community
Services;
3 . THAT the funds up to $15,000.00 required be drawn from the
approved 1992 Community Services Capital Budget, Account
#7029-X-0501, as identified on page #177 of the Capital
Budget; and
4 . THAT the additional funds not to exceed $3,500.00 be drawn
from the approved 1992 Community Services Capital Budget,
Account #7029-X-0501, on page #179 of the Capital Budget,
which resulted due to the under-expenditure to paint the
structural steel at the Newcastle Arena.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the re-roofing of the
Brownsdale Community Centre, as required by the Department of
Community Services .

Subsequently, bids were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds will be drawn from the approved Community Services
1992 Capital Budget Account #7029-X-0501, as indicated on page #177 of
the Capital Budget.
Although the total funds required exceeds the budget allocation of
$15,000. 00, there are adequate funds available due to an under-
expenditure of $8,000. 00 to paint the structural steel at the
Newcastle Arena (page #179 of the 1992 Capital Budget) .
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with
the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Community
Services .
The subject firm has satisfactorily performed for the Town of
Newcastle in previous years.
