Subject: TENDER NW93-2, PLUMBING SERVICES
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-61-93 be received;
2 . THAT Larry Jackson Plumbing, Orono, Ontario, with bid
prices of $26 .00 per hour for Journeyman Plumber and
$15 . 00 per hour for Journeyman Plumber's Helper be
awarded the contract to provide Plumbing Services for a
six (6) month period with an optional further six (6)
months, as required by the Municipality of Clarington,
for 1993/94;
3 . THAT the respective contractor attend a Safety
Orientation Program to be provided by the Municipal
Staff; and
4 . THAT the funds expended be drawn from the various
1993/94 Current Budget accounts .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for to provide
Plumbing Services as required by the Municipality of Clarington
for 1993/94.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule
"All attached. The bid prices represent a eight percent (8%)
decrease over the 1992 contract prices .
The required funds will be drawn from the various 1993/94 Current
Budget accounts .

Although the subject firm has not provided service for the
Municipality of Clarington, they have provided satisfactory
service for both the Ministry of Natural Resources and Clarington
Hydro.
For the information of Council, the Municipality spent
approximately $39,000 .00 for Plumbing Services during 1992 .
The $39,000. 00 is comprised of approximately $23,000. 00 .for
labour and $16,000. 00 for parts.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing,
Community Services and Public Works, it is respectfully
recommended that Larry Jackson Plumbing, Orono, Ontario, be
awarded the contract to provide Plumbing Services to the
Municipality of Clarington for a six (6) month period with an
optional further six (6) months pending satisfactory performance.
All other terms, conditions and pricing to remain firm for twelve
(12) months. It is also recommended that the respective
contractor attend a Safety Orientation Program to be provided by
Municipal Staff. The purpose of this Orientation Program will be
to ensure that the contractor is familiar with both the
legislation, as well as, the Municipal standards for safety and
to familiarize him with the various Municipal facilities.
