Subject: TENDER NW93-22r CHAIN LINK FENCING
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-63-93 be received;
2 . THAT White's Fence Systems, Courtice, Ontario, with a
total bid price of $17,885 .42, be awarded the contract
to provide Chain Link Fencing at Mearns Avenue Park, as
requested by the Municipality of Clarington; and
3 . THAT the funds expended be drawn from the Community
Services Lot Levy Account #1110-00156-X.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
A tender was publicly advertised and issued with the following
bids being submitted:

The required funding will be drawn from Account #1110-00156-X.
Total funds of $24,000.00 were allocated for this project in the
approved 1990 Capital budget. The subject firm have previously
performed satisfactorily for the Municipality of Clarington.
The Municipality has through discussions with representatives of
the Bowmanville Zoo agreed to fence the southern limit of Mearns
Avenue Park. It has been previously agreed that the Town would
pay costs equivalent to a six foot chain link fence and the
representatives of the Zoo have agreed to fund any costs over and
above. In particular, they have requested an eight foot fence
and a ten foot wide gate.
Area 1 - 11 m of 4 ft. fencing along a private residence $ 286 . 00
Area 2 - 29 m of 6 ft. fencing along a private residence $ 874 .35
Area 3 - 400 m for up to 6 ft. fencing $12,060 . 00
G.S.T. $ 925 .42
Municipality's Cost $14, 145 .77
The Bowmanville Zoo has agreed to fund the remainder of the
expenditure $3,739 . 65.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it is recommended that White's Fence Systems,
Courtice, Ontario, be recommended for the contract award to supply and
install Chain Link Fencing, as required by the Municipality of
Clarington.
