Subject: TENDER Q93-8 - SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF AUTOMATIC DOORS
BOWMANVILLE LIBRARY
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-71-93 be received;
2 . THAT Enex Door Automation Inc . , Concord, Ontario, with a
total bid price of $18, 179 .30, be awarded the contract
for the supply and installation of Automatic Doors at the
Clarington Library, Bowmanville Branch, as required by
the Department of Community Services; and
3. THAT the ,funds expended be drawn from the Community
Services Capital Budget Account #7027-1-501 ( 1992
Budgeted value of $12,000. 00) Library Lot Levy Account
#1110-160-X with the additional funds in the amount of
$6, 179 . 30 to be drawn from the Community Services Lot
Levy Reserve Fund Account #7027-00001-0501.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Specifications were issued for the supply and installation of
Automatic Doors at the Clarington Library, Bowmanville Branch and
in accordance with the Purchasing By-Law, as the total bid price
was estimated to be $14,000 - $15,000. a formal quotation rather
than a tender was issued. A total of eight companies (from a
compiled list of potential bidders) were invited to bid.
As the number of companies providing this service in this area is
limited, only two (2) bids were received as follows:

This project is a carry-over from 1992 with $12,000. 00 committed
from the Library Lot Levy Reserve Fund Account #1110-160-X with the
additional funds required of $6, 179 .30 allocated for in 1993 from
the $12,000. 00 budgeted from the Community Services Lot Levy
Reserve Fund Account #7027-00001-0501 as reflected on page 190 of
the Capital Budget.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it is recommended that Enex Door Automation,
Inc. , Concord, Ontario, be recommended for the contract award for
the supply and installation of automatic doors at the Clarington
Library, Bowmanville Branch.
Although the subject firm have not previously performed for the

Municipality of Clarington, they have provided satisfactory service
to both Tactix Construction and Hody Construction.
