Subject: CL94-35, WALKWAY LIGHTING - HART COURT TO SUNSET BOULEVARD
VILLAGE OF NEWCASTLE/LAWSON ROAD TO REG. ROAD 55 TO EAST
LIMIT/TRULLS - SANDRINGHAM DRIVE INTERSECTION/ELLIOTT STREET,
BURKETON
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-68-94 be received;
2 . THAT Doug Pinder Electric Ltd. , Fenelon Falls, Ontario, with
a bid in the amount of $15,782 .50, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL94-35, be awarded the contract for
Walkway Lighting - Hart Court to Sunset Boulevard, Village of
Newcastle/Lawson Road to Reg. Road 55 to East Limit/Trulls -
Sandringham Drive Intersection/Elliott Street, Burketon, as
required by the Department of Public Works; and
3 . THAT the total funds required in the amount of $16,282 .50
($15,782 .50 Contract + $500.00 Hydro Connection) be drawn from
the Public Works Account 7230-00210-0000.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Plans were provided by Totten Sims Hubicki & Associates for the
Walkway Lighting - Hart Court to Sunset Boulevard, Village of
Newcastle/Lawson Road to Reg. Road 55 to East Limit/Trulls -
Sandringham Drive Intersection/Elliott Street, Burketon, as
required by the Department of Public Works .
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule
"A" attached.

The required funds in the amount of $15,782 .50 will be distributed
as follows:
Lawson Rd - Reg. Rd. 55 to east limit $ 2,695 . 00
Trulls/Sandringham Dr. Intersection 950. 00
Elliott Street, Burketon 1, 105. 00
Hart Sunset Walkway, Newcastle 10,000. 00
$14,750 .00
G.S.T. 7% 1,032 .50
$15,782 .50
Hydro Connection 500 . 00
$16,282 .50
The total required funds in the amount of $16,282 .50 ($15,782 .50
Contract + $500 . 00 Hydro Connection) will be drawn from the Public
Works 1994 Capital Budget for Street Lighting Program account
#7230-00210-0008 and are within the total budget allocation of
$33,400 . 00, as reflected on Page 49 of the Capital Budget. For the
information of Council, other associated costs for Engineering
amounted to approximately $5, 300 . 00 which was paid for out of the
1993 Public Works Budget.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Public Works, it was mutually agreed that the low bidder, Doug
Pinder Electric Ltd. , Fenelon Falls, Ontario, be recommended for
the contract for Walkway Lighting - Hart Court to Sunset Boulevard,
Village of Newcastle/Lawson Road to Reg. Road 55 to East
Limit/Trulls - Sandringham Drive Intersection/Elliott Street,

Burketon,
Although the low bidder has not previously performed for the
Municipality of Clarington, they have provided excellent service
for the City of Peterborough and Village of Fenelon Falls .
