THAT Report TR-81-94 be received; 2 . THAT Esposito Brothers Construction Ltd. , Toronto, Ontario, with a total bid in the amount of $413,,842 . 30, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of Tender CL94-37, be awarded the contract for the Lawson Road Reconstruction, Courtice, as required by the Department of Public Works; and 3 . THAT the attached By-law marked Schedule "All be forwarded to Council for approval; 4 . THAT the Municipality of Clarington's share of the total project cost be drawn from the Public Works Lot Levy Reserve Funds; 5 . THAT the additional funds required of approximately $37,815 . 94, be interim financed from the Public Works Lot Levy Reserve Fund; and 6 . THAT staff be authorized to make application to the Canada Ontario Infrastructure Works Program to reallocate any surplus funds from the approved municipal allotment to repay the Lot Levy Reserve Fund; FORTHWITH. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Tender specifications were provided by Totten Sims Hubicki Associates for the Lawson Road Reconstruction, Courtice, as required by the Department of Public Works and as approved under the Canada Ontario Infrastructure Works Program. s,,,4a y.........n REPORT NO. : TR-81-94 PAGE 2 TENDER CL94-37 Tenders were advertised in the local papers, as well as the Daily Commercial News . Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "B" attached. The total project cost as detailed in the letter from Totten Sims Hubicki Associates, marked Schedule "C" is estimated at $337,815 . 94 ($413,842 . 30 Contract plus $66,475.33 Engineering, Construction Administration, Utility Relocation, Soils Report, Contingency minus $142,501. 69 Region of Durham Portion) . The Municipality of Clarington's share of the total project cost will be drawn from account #1110-00157-0000, Public Works Lot Levy Reserve Fund. i As a result of underestimating the Municipality's total project cost of $337,815.94 is over the Canada Ontario Infrastructure Works Program application amount of $300,000 .00. It is therefore recommended that once the final costs of all the approved Infrastructure projects are known, application be made for any surplus funds to be reallocated to offset the additional funds required of approximately $37,815.94, from the Municipality's total allotment to this project. It is recommended that the additional funds required be drawn from the Public Works Lot Levy Reserve Fund on an interim basis until the final infrastructure costs are known. I As this tender includes the construction of Sanitary Sewers for the Region of Durham, it is necessary that this project proceed as soon as possible, subsequently a FORTHWITH approval is requested. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation.
