Subject: TENDER NW93-44 — ONE (1) ONLY CAB & CHASSIS C/W TELESCOPIC
HYDRAULIC AERIAL DEVICE AND FIBREGLASS UTILITY BODY
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT report TR-3-94 be received;
2. THAT Telelect Canada Inc. , Guelph, Ontario with a total
bid in the amount of $71, 144 .75 (including taxes) , being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms,
conditions and specifications of Tender NW93-44, be
awarded the contract to supply one (1) only Cab & Chassis
c/w Telescopic Hydraulic Aerial Device and Fibreglass
Utility Body, as required by the Municipality of
Clarington, Department of Public Works; and
3. THAT the funds expended be provided from the approved
1993 Public Works Fleet Account.
BACKGROUND AND COhMNTS:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one ( 1) only Cab & Chassis c/w Telescopic Hydraulic
Aerial Device and Fibreglass Utility Body, as required by the
Department of Public Works .

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

After further review and analysis of the tender by Public Works and
Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Telelect Canada Inc. ,
Guelph, Ontario be recommended for the contract to supply and
deliver one ( 1) only Cab & Chassis c/w Telescopic Hydraulic Aerial
Device and Fibreglass Utility Body, to the Municipality of
Clarington, as required by the Department of Public Works.

The required funds will be provided from the approved 1993 Public
Works Fleet Account, and are over the $70,000.00 allocation as
reflected on page 66 (2 ton truck c/w boom) of the 1993 Capital
Budget.
However, as the total bid price for the Motor Grader recently
purchased (Page 63 of the Capital Budget) was $94,017 .51 and
$120,000. 00 was allocated, there are sufficient funds remaining in
the equipment reserve account.

The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .
Although the subject firm have not previously performed for the
Municipality of Clarington, they have satisfactorily supplied
equipment for Clarington Hydro.
