Subject: TENDER CL94-21 ELECTRICAL SERVICES
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-12-94 be received;
2 . THAT George Moore Electric, Bowmanville, Ontario, with bid
prices of $28. 00 per hour for Journeyman Electrician and
$11 . 00 per hour for Journeyman Electrician's Helper be awarded
the contract to provide Electrical Services, as required by
the Municipality of Clarington for 1994; and
3 . THAT the funds expended be drawn from the various 1994 Current
Budget Accounts.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited to provide Electrical
Services as required by the Municipality of Clarington for 1994.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule
"A" attached.
The bid price represents a zero percent (0%) increase/decrease in
the hourly rates over the 1993 contract prices. The required funds
will be drawn from the various 1994 Current Budget Accounts.
For the information of Council, the Municipality of Clarington paid
approximately $63, 000. 00 to George Moore Electric for Electrical
Services during 1993 . However, approximately $25,000 of this was
for Electrical Services in Street Lighting, which is currently a
separate contract. The balance of $38,000 . 00 was for electrical

services at various municipal facilities . This $38,000.00 is
comprised of approximately $20,000.00 for labour and $18,000.00 for
parts .
Although the material charges cost plus markup is higher on the bid
from George Moore than on all but one of the other tenders, the
overall cost is less . This is based on the prices per hour for the
Journeyman Electrician and the Journeyman Electrician Helper, the
minimum charge rate and the total estimated number of hours
expended for labour in 1993 .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing, Public
Works and Community Services, it is respectfully recommended that
George Moore Electric, Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded the
contract to provide Electrical Services to the Municipality of
Clarington, as required.
The subject firm has worked satisfactorily for the Municipality of
Clarington in the past year.
