Subject: TENDER CL94-9, SURFACE TREATMENT
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-21-94 be received;
2 . THAT Duncor Enterprises Inc . , Barrie, Ontario, with a total
bid in the amount of $563,600 .78, being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions, and specifications of
Tender CL94-9, be awarded the contract to supply and apply
Surface Treatment to various roads as required by the
Municipality of Clarington; and
3 . THAT the funds be provided from the 1994 Department of Public
Works Road Maintenance Budget.
BACKGROUND AND C0101ENT:
Tender CL94-9 was advertised and issued with bids being received
and tabulated as follows:

TENDER CL-94-9
The unit prices for the H.F. 1505 and 16 .0 mm Class 2 aggregate
represent an approximate five percent (5%) decrease and zero
percent (0%) increase/decrease respectively over the 1993 prices .
See Schedule "B" for Prime and Surface locations .
The total funds required for Tender CL94-9, Surface Treatment are
included in the Department of Public Works Road Maintenance budget.
The total funds allocated for the Surface Treatment Program which
includes the Pulverizing contract $920,000 . 00 . Of this amount,
$32,689 . 36 has been committed for the Pulverizing portion (Tender
CL94-8) .
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .
After review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works and
Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Duncor Enterprises Inc . ,
Barrie, Ontario, be recommended for the contract to Surface Treat
Municipal roads as required.
The subject firm has previously performed satisfactorily for the i
Municipality of Clarington.
