Subject: TENDER CL94-17, ONE ( 1) ONLY 1 TON PICK UP TRUCK

Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-23-94 be received;
2 . THAT Roy Nichols Motors, Courtice, Ontario, with a total bid
of $24,589 . 30 (including all taxes) , being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL94-17, be awarded the contract to
supply and deliver one ( 1) only Ton Pick Up Truck to the
Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Fire
Department; and
3. THAT the required funds be drawn from the approved 1994 Fire
Department Capital Budget, account #7102-00001-0504 FORTHWITH.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
A tender was publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one ( 1) only 1 Ton Pick Up Truck, as required by the

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

The total bid price of $24,589 .30 is within the $25,000.00 provided
for in the 1994 Fire Department Capital Budget, account
#7102-00001-0504, as reflected on page 160 in the draft Capital
Budget.
As identified in the Capital Budget, this vehicle is to replace the
1986 GMC Suburban currently used by the Deputy Fire Chief. For the
information of Council, an estimate in the amount of $7040 .42 to
repair and paint this vehicle was obtained from Cowan Pontiac,
Bowmanville, Ontario. Roy Nichols, Bowmanville, Ontario was also
requested to provide an estimate, however, they advised that they

were unable to complete the estimate as there is too much rust on
the vehicle and were therefore unable to guarantee the repairs.

The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Fire Chief.

After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and the Fire
Department, it was mutually agreed that the low bid from Roy
Nichols Motors, Courtice, Ontario, be recommended for the tender
award.
