Subject: CL94-26, CORRUGATED STEEL CULVERT
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-33-94 be received;
2 . THAT E.S. Hubbell & Sons Ltd. , Thamesville, Ontario, with a
total bid in the amount of $31,456 .53, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL94-26, be awarded the contract for
the supply and delivery of Corrugated Steel Culvert as
required by the Department of Public Works; and
3 . THAT the funds be drawn from the approved 1994 Culvert
Maintenance Construction budget FORTHWITH.
BACKGROUND AND COMMNT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of Rivetted Corrugated Steel Pipe Culvert as required by
the Department of Public Works .
Subsequently, bids were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A"
attached.
The required funds will be drawn from the approved 1994 Culvert
Maintenance Construction budget, from which there are adequate
funds available.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works . aa

The tendered prices for culverts represents approximately a
fourteen percent ( 14%) increase over the 1993 prices, however, the
estimated requirements are an average of forty percent (40%) lower
for 1994 .
After further review and analysis of the tenders by Public Works
and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that E.S. Hubbell & Sons
Ltd. , Thamesville, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for the
supply and delivery of culverts to the Municipality of Clarington
for 1994 .
As there is an immediate need for culverts, a forthwith approval is
requested.
The subject firm has previously performed satisfactorily for the
Municipality of Clarington.
