Subject: TENDER CL94-4, RECONSTRUCTION OF PRESTONVALE ROAD
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-40-94 be received;
2 . THAT Duntri Construction, Oshawa, Ontario, with a total bid in
the amount of $742,805. 07, being the lowest responsible bidder
meeting all terms, conditions, and specifications of Tender
CL94-4, be awarded the contract for the Reconstruction of
Prestonvale Road, as required by the Department of Public
Works;
3 . THAT the attached By-law marked Schedule "B" be forwarded to
Council for approval; and
4 . THAT the funds in the amount of $637,772 .80 be drawn from the
approved 1994 Public Works Capital budget, account #7205-
93007-0261.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT•
Tender specifications were provided by D.G. Biddle and Associates
Limited for the Reconstruction of Prestonvale Road as required by
the Department of Public Works .
Tenders were advertised in the local papers, as well as the Daily
Commercial News. Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated
as per Schedule "A" attached.

The Municipality of Clarington's portion of the total project cost
as detailed in the letter from D.G. Biddle and Associates marked
Schedule "B" is estimated at $637,772 . 80, which is within the
budget allocation of $700,000. 00, as reflected in the 1994 Draft
Capital Budget, page 31. Included in the total tendered price of
$742,805. 07 is work to be performed on behalf of the Region in an
approximate amount of $166, 161. 00 and they will be invoiced as
appropriate.
It is proposed that the required funds be drawn from the Public
Works Capital budget, account #7205-93007-0261.
The low bidder has previously performed for the Municipality of
Clarington.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .

THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW #
Being a By-law to authorize a contract between
the Corporation of the Municipality of
Clarington and Duntri Construction, Oshawa,
Ontario in respect of the Reconstruction of
Prestonvale Road.
THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute on
behalf of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington
with the Corporation Seal, a contract between Duntri
Construction and said Corporation.
By-law read a first and second time this day of June, 1994 .
By-law read a third time and finally passed this day of June,
1994 .
