Subject: TENDER CL94-33, ONE ( 1) ONLY 1050 IGPM PUMPER
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-45-94 be received;
2 . THAT Almonte Fire Truck Ltd. , Carleton Place, Ontario, with a
total bid of $320,684 . 35 (including all taxes) , being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL94-33, be awarded the contract to
supply and deliver one ( 1) only 1050 IGPM Pumper to the
Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Fire
Department; and
3 . THAT the required funds be drawn from the approved 1994 Fire
Department Capital Budget, account #7102-00001-0504.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tender CL94-33 for one ( 1) only 1050 IGPM Pumper was publicly
advertised and issued with the following bids submitted:

Nova Quintech, $291,621. 01, amended
Quebec, Ontario to $328,981. 13 including
equipment
Funding for the 1050 IGPM Pumper will be drawn from account 7102-
00001-0504, and is within the $325,000.00 allocation, as reflected
on page 161 of the 1994 Draft Capital Budget.

Upon review of the tenders, it was revealed that the total bid
price from Nova Quintech does not include the optional equipment,
that being nozzles, hoses, ladders, axes etc . , where the bid from
Almonte Fire Truck Ltd. does . The bid from Nova Quintech was
subsequently adjusted to $328,981. 13 based on the unit prices
submitted for the optional equipment. For the information of
Council, it is in the Municipality's best interest to include this
equipment with the Tender as it is then purchased Provincial Sales
Tax exempt. If it were to be purchased separately, Provincial
Sales Tax would be applicable.
After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and the Fire
Department, it was mutually agreed that Almonte Fire Truck Ltd. ,
Carleton Place, Ontario, be recommended for the contract award.
The subject firm has previously provided satisfactory service and
equipment to the Municipality of Clarington.
