Subject: TENDER CL94-291 PLUMBING SERVICES
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report TR-47-94 be received;
2 . THAT Jack Burgess & Sons Plumbing, Bowmanville, Ontario, with
bid prices of $25 .00 per hour for Journeyman Plumber and
$15. 00 per hour for Journeyman Plumber's Helper be awarded the
contract to provide Plumbing Services, as required by the
Municipality of Clarington for 1994/95;
3 . THAT the respective contractor attend a Safety Orientation
Program to be provided by the Municipal Staff; and
4 . THAT the funds expended be drawn from the various 1994/95
Current Budget accounts .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and called for to provide Plumbing
Services as required by the Municipality of Clarington for 1994/95.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule
"A" attached. The bid prices represent a four percent (4%)
decrease over the 1993 contract prices .
The required funds will be drawn from the various 1994/95 Current
Budget accounts.
The subject firm has previously provided satisfactory service for
the Municipality of Clarington.

For the information of Council, the Municipality spent
approximately $16 ,000 .00 for Plumbing Services during 1993/94. The
$16,000 .00 is comprised of approximately $9,600. 00 for labour and
$6,400.00 for parts .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing,
Community Services and Public Works, it is respectfully recommended
that Jack Burgess & Sons Plumbing, Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded
the contract to provide Plumbing Services as required to the
Municipality of Clarington. It is also recommended that the
respective contractor attend a Safety Orientation Program to be
provided by Municipal Staff. The purpose of this Orientation
Program will be to ensure that the contractor is familiar with both
the legislation, as well as the Municipal standards for safety and
to familiarize him with the various Municipal facilities.
