Subject: PRE-BUDGET TENDERING - 1995 BUDGET
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-4-95 be received;
2 . THAT approval be given to proceed with the following pre-
budget tendering as identified below:

PRE-BUDGET TENDERING - 1995 BUDGET
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
The 1995 budget is tentatively scheduled to be brought to Council
for consideration and deliberation in March 1995 .
Over the past few years, the cut off date imposed by the
manufacturers for ordering current year' s vehicles has
progressively been moved up earlier in the spring each year.
Consequently, there have been times when the Municipal Budget was
not approved early enough in the year in order that tenders may be
issued and vehicles ordered prior to the deadline . The deadline

imposed for 1994 was early May. Although the cut-off dates for
1995 have not yet been established, increased demand for vehicles
is anticipated which will result in an earlier date being imposed.
Consistent with the practice over past years on other Municipal
Tenders, it is therefore recommended that approval be given for an
early tender call for the 1995 vehicles required by the
Municipality, in advance of the approval by Council of the 1995
budget .
It is proposed that the tenders be advertised prior to the end of
January 1995 .

The tendering process requires that Council approve the staff
recommended selection, so the final decision in these matters will
be by Council Resolution.
