Subject: TENDER CL95-3, URBANIZATION AND SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION
KING STREET, KING' S HIGHWAY NO. 2, BOWMANVILLE
(FROM REGIONAL ROAD 57 TO BOWMANVILLE CREEK)
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-27-95 be received;
2 . THAT Miwel Construction Limited, Stouffville, Ontario, with a
total bid in the amount of $250, 522 . 74, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL95-3 , be awarded the contract for
the Urbanization and Sidewalk Construction, King Street,
King' s Highway No. 2, Bowmanville, (from Regional Road 57 to
Bowmanville Creek) , as required by the Department of Public
Works; and
3 . THAT the funds in the amount of $301, 000 . 00 ($250, 522 . 74
Contract + $50,477 . 26 Consulting and Contingencies) , be drawn
from the approved 1995 Public Works Capital budget, account
#7212-95002-0261 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
In accordance with Council Resolution #GPA-92-95, which authorized
an early tender call, tender specifications were provided by Totten
Sims Hubicki Associates for the Urbanization and Sidewalk
Construction, King Street, King' s Highway No. 2 , Bowmanville, (from
Regional Road 57 to Bowmanville Creek) as required by the
Department of Public Works .

Tenders were advertised in the local papers, as well as the Daily
Commercial News . Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated
as per Schedule "A" attached.

The total project cost as detailed in the letter from Totten Sims
Hubicki Associates, marked Schedule "B" is estimated at
$301, 000 . 00, which is within the budget allocation of $320, 000 . 00
as reflected on Page 61 of the 1995 Draft Capital Budget .
The low bidder has previously performed satisfactorily for the
Municipality of Clarington.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of Public
Works .
After further review and analysis of the bids by Public Works,
Totten Sims Hubicki Associates and Purchasing, it was mutually
agreed that the low bidder, Miwel Construction Limited,
Stouffville, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for the
Urbanization and Sidewalk Construction, King Street, King' s Highway
No. 2 , Bowmanville, (from Regional Road 57 to Bowmanville Creek) .

The most recent projects were Liberty Street SidvNalk, Clarington- $124,000 and Tap ey 1/ Line, Cavan
Township - $110,000,00. Both contracts were completed in 1994 and quality of worklaanship and
cooperation were hor.h excellent. We do not feel it is necessary to check other referen'.es on this
