THAT Report TR-44-95 be received; 2 . THAT Contract 93054-95-1, tendered jointly with the Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education for the reconstruction of the driveway, expansion of parking lot, new tennis courts at the Bowmanville High School, and the repaving of the Fitness Centre parking lot, tendered by Bennett Paving, be approved; and 3 . THAT the funds in an approximate amount of $175, 000 . 00 be drawn from the 1995 Community Services Department Capital Budget Account #j:7607-00004-0501 . BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: A Co-operative tender was issued by the Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education for the reconstruction of the driveway, expansion of parking lot, and new tennis courts at the Bowmanville High School, which included the repaving of the parking lot at the Fitness Centre . Although the contract conditions include both the Northumberland- Clarington Board of Education' s requirements and the Municipality of Clarington' s requirements, they are not independent of each other but rather are considered as one complete contract . However, the contract award is subject to the approval of the Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education and the Municipality of Clarington. The Board is recommending that Contract 93054-95-1 be awarded to Bennett Paving. The estimated cost of the Municipality of Clarin g ton' s portion of the work (paving of Fitness Centre parking lot) is $175, 000 . 00 as outlined in the attached letter from the Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education, marked Schedule "A" . The required funds in the approximate amount of $175, 000 . 00 will be drawn from the 1995 Community Services Capital Budget Account ##7607-00007-0501 which is within the budget allocation of $200, 000 . 00, as reflected in the 1995 Draft Capital Budget, Page 214 . i I The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to any specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Community Services . This project is a Joint Venture with the Municipality of Clarington and The Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education. 2. The Municipality has approved approximately$175,000. of funding for this project as support for the expansion of the Fitness Centre parking lot and the relocation of two(2) tennis courts to the south side of the school/fitness centre complex. 3. The Board has received funding approval under the Canada/Ontario Infrastructure Works program. 4. Tenders were called in accordance with Board Policy for the reconstruction of the asphalt driveways, staff and visitor parking, curbs, sidewalks and the installation of new storm water drainage. Also included in this project is the expansion of the parking area for the Fitness Centre and the relocation of two(2)tennis courts and the conversion of the existing tennis courts into student parking.
