THAT Report TR-63-96 be received; 2 . THAT Langley Utilities Cont . Ltd. , Bowmanville, Ontario, with bid prices of $40 . 00 per hour for Electrician and $21 . 50 per hour for Electrician' s Helper be awarded the contract to provide Electrical Services for Street and Park Lighting, as required by the Municipality of Clarington for 1996 ; and 3 . THAT the funds expended be drawn from the Street and Park Lighting Accounts 7230-00201-0000, 7230-00101-0000 and 7603-00001-0137 . BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: i Tenders were publicly advertised and issued to provide Electrical Services for Street and Park Lighting as required by the Municipality of Clarington for approximately May 1996 to May 1998 . i Subsequently, Tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A" attached. Note, in addition to the hourly rate quoted, prices were also submitted for various pieces of equipment that may be required throughout the year. The prices shown on the bid summary are the items that reflect the greatest portion of the total annual expenditure . j The bid prices represent a twenty-six percent (26%) increase in the hourly rates over the 1994 contract prices . The required funds will be drawn from the respective years Street Lighting account . R RECYLD AP"' CE R799-020 Ri4S B PR,?RED CN RECYCLED PAPER REPORT NO. : TR-63-96 PAGE 2 TENDER CL96-6 I I For the information of Council, the Municipality of Clarington spent approximately $62, 000 . 00 for Electrical Services on Street and Park Lighting during the 1995 year. i With respect to the lower material charges by Bert Snowden Electric, based on previous years approximately 600 of the total annual expended funds is for parts . However, the value placed on this difference is not measurable as cost is relative to the actual price paid by the Contractor and may greatly vary. For comparison purposes, the hourly rates for labour and other miscellaneous equipment rates are considered to be of more cost significance . i The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc. , should be referred to the Director of Public Works . After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works, it is respectfully recommended that Langley Utilities Cont . Ltd. , Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded the contract to provide Electrical Services for Street and Park Lighting to the Municipality of Clarington as required.
