Subject: TENDER CL96-22, TWO (2) ONLY CAB AND CHASSIS - 15, 000 G.V.W.
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-86-96 be received;

2 . THAT Cliff Mills Motors Limited, Oshawa, Ontario, with a total
bid in the amount of $52, 594 . 10 (including taxes) , being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL96-22, be awarded the contract to
supply two (2) only 15, 000 G.V.W. Cab and Chassis as required
by the Municipality of Clarington, Department of Public Works;
3 . THAT the funds expended be provided from the 1996 Public Works
Fleet Account #2900-00010-0000 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised for the supply of two (2) only

15, 000 G.V.W. Cab and Chassis as required by the Public Works
Department . Subsequently, bids were received as follows :

With respect to the trade-in offered on the existing 1985 and 1991 Two Ton Dumps, it is
staff's opinion that the amount proposed is comparable to the amount that would likely be
realized at the annual Regional Auction Sale and recommend that it be accepted.
After further review and analysis of the tender by Public Works and Purchasing, it was
mutually agreed that Cliff Mills Motors Limited, Oshawa, Ontario, be recommended for the
contract to supply and deliver two (2) only 15,000 G.V.W. Cab and Chassis to the
Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Department of Public Works.
The required funds will be provided from the approved 1996 Public Works Fleet Account,
and are within the $80,000.00 allocation as reflected on Page 169 of the 1996 Capital
Budget, Items one and four (note: item one is incorrectly shown as replacing a one ton).
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc., should be
referred to the Director of Public Works.
The subject firm has previously provided satisfactory service for the Municipality of
Clarington.
